MBRT Urges Swift Bi-Partisan Congressional Action on Financial Reform

  • Supports President’s Financial Services Reform Plan
  • Recommends Small Business Advocate on the seat of the Federal Reserve Board
  • Creation of Small & Minority Business Offices in financial regulatory agencies
  • Increased transparency and accountability to include small business reporting by race, ethnicity and gender
  • Launch national web based loan portal to match lenders with borrowers

Washington, D.C. – “We applaud President Obama’s firm hand to protect folks on Main Street while reigning-in Wall Street’s big appetite for profits at taxpayer expense through relaxed regulatory oversight”, said Roger A. Campos, President & CEO.  “We have seen no movement to increase small business lending that was promised by CEO bankers receiving TARP funds at last years Congressional hearings.  This is devastating to small and minority businesses that are desperate for capital to fuel their businesses.”

“We are encouraged that Republican lawmakers are working with Democrats to produce a bi-partisan bill that will change the way Wall Street operates. While we remain optimistic that a bill will pass Congress, MBRT is taking action now to launch a small business web portal that will match lenders with borrowers.  This will help Main Street Americans get loans for their businesses”, said Campos.
