MBRT Urges Swift Bi-Partisan Congressional Action on Small Business Jobs Act
- Supports Small Business Lending Fund to Community and Smaller Banks
- Recommends Incentives to Encourage Lending and Repayment
- Provide $30 billion to leverage $300 Billion in new lending for Small and Minority Businesses
- Establish national web based loan portal to match lenders with borrowers
Washington, D.C. – “We applaud the President and Congressional efforts to provide access to capital and sustain financial recovery and maintain economic viability for our Nation’s small and minority businesses”, said Roger A. Campos, President & CEO. “We have not seen any movement to increase small business lending that was promised by CEO bankers receiving TARP funds at last years Congressional hearings. This is devastating to small and minority businesses that are desperate for capital to fuel their businesses.”
“We are encouraged that Senators LeMieux and Landrieu have introduced the Small Community Business Lending Fund (S.AMDT 4500) to provide capital that remains the lifeblood for survival of small and minority businesses. In order to compliment this initiative, MBRT strongly supports the Jobs Act provision that requires the launch of a small business loan web portal that will match lenders with borrowers through community outreach that will create competition among lenders for borrowers. This will help Main Street Americans get loans for their businesses in a matter of minutes rather than waiting for weeks and months for approvals”, said Campos.
